ABOUT

OUR HOSPITAL

Driftwood Animal Hospital is a second generation family owned and operated veterinary hospital.  Founded in 1962 by the late John Langford, DVM, Driftwood Animal Hospital has been serving Daytona Beach and surrounding communities continuously ever since.  We look to continue the family practice atmosphere that our hospital was built on while still delivering high end medical and surgical care to your pet family.

Our Doctors

Gary Langford, DVM:

Dr. Gary is a native of Daytona Beach.  He was born in Halifax Hospital and grew up in Holly Hill.  After graduating from Mainland High School, he went on to study veterinary medicine at Auburn University.  His favorite season is "college football" and he spends every Saturday rooting for the Auburn Tigers.  After earning his DVM in the early 1980's, he started practice at Hollywood Animal Hospital in Hollywood, FL.  His first day there, a fascinating young woman caught his attention, and he decided he was not leaving without her.  In 1985, his father made him an offer he couldn't refuse-a position at Driftwood Animal Hospital.  He and JoAnn married their last day in Hollywood.  They have three grown children they are very proud of.  Dr. Gary loves to practice veterinary medicine, spending time with good folks, and encouraging young people to achieve their goals.

Joanne McCallum, DVM:

Dr. "Mc" graduated from The School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis in 1995.  She completed a dual degree that included both a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and a Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM).  During her 24 year career she has practiced  mixed animal, emergency and  small animal medicine.  Dr. Mc has been with the Driftwood family for 10 years.  Dr. Mc enjoys all aspects of small animal general medicine and the role she plays in maintaining the human-animal bond.  Dr. Mc, her border collie Tess and  her mix breed Chester  spend their free time volunteering as  members of Central Florida  Search and Rescue Team.  Dr Mc and her husband/best friend Johnny enjoy country living with their 3 dogs and 2 cats on their  9 acre farm in Pierson, Fl..

Kyle Wolfersteig, DVM:

Dr. Kyle was born and raised in Daytona Beach and a graduate of Mainland High School.  He received his Bachelor in Science with a major in biology from the University of North Florida.  He completed his veterinary education at Louisiana State University in 2012.  After graduation he worked emergency medicine in New Orleans, LA and then at a non-profit veterinary hospital in Jacksonville, FL before returning to Daytona Beach and Driftwood Animal Hospital in 2014.  Dr. Kyle has an interest in canine and feline internal medicine and dermatology.  Dr. Kyle and his wife, Alyssa, share their home with their black lab, Colbi, and their cats Opa and Ren.
